CHEMO SENSITIVITY:
What is chemosensitivity
Chemosensitivity is a laboratory technique in which the patient’s own cancer cells are crossmatched against various drugs which are routinely used for a certain type of cancer. These cancer cells are also tested against natural supplements which are available for various types of cancers. These supplemnts may include but are not limited to Poly MVA, B17, Hyaluronic Acid, Shark Cartilage, Iscador and many more.
Why it needs to be done
The idea is to identify which particular combination of drugs or natural supplements is likely to be the most effective in treating a particular cancer patiant. Since the drugs are matched in varying dosages the test not only tells us about the most effective drugs but also the most appropriate dose of each drug.
Through chemosensitivity we also come to know about the drugs which are least sensitive and therefore less likely to work in a certain patient.
Such information helps the clinician to design the most appropriate therapeutic protocol for a particular patient. This is a focused and targeted approach, thereby maximizing drug benefits, as well as reducing side effects and length of treatment.
