Food Sensitivity Test:
Food and environment induced immune reactions have been linked to various chronic disorders such as eczema, chronic skin rashes, angioedema, irritable bowel syndrome (distension, bloating, belching, cramping, colic, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea) migraine headaches, nasal congestion, sinusitis, asthma, arthritis, fibromyalgia, poor memory, mood and behaviour problems and learning difficulties. They have also been linked to ADHD and autism in children. A food sensitivity test is included in the management of most of the chronic disorders related to any system of the body.
Food sensitivities may be obvious with symptoms of food intolerance, or apparently silent. The silent ones may harm various organs in various ways. Unlike food intolerance, food-sensitive patients typically continue eating the foods they may be sensitive to until the food sensitivity test reveals the occult immune mediated reactions. Genomic modification, fertilizers, weed killers, pesticides, addition of preservatives, chemical flavours, colorants and food processing all may contribute in this regard.
The immune mediated food sensitivities are distinct from food intolerance or food poisoning. It is a misunderstanding by our own defence system which recognizes certain food components (especially proteins) as harmful substances and rages an attack against them. As a result there is immune complex formation. These complexes are often deposited in various organs causing inflammation and irritation and may damage the form and function of these organs.
Such immune reactions may be immediate (leading to production of IgE antibodies) or delayed (leading to the production of IgG antibodies). If we measure these antibodies in the circulation we can reach a diagnosis-and that is what the food sensitivity test is for!
