Vlade M. Gagovski, MD, LMCC, DMP
Dr. Gagovski is a medical doctor as well as a Licenciate of the Medical Council of Canada. Following his undergraduate work in Toronto, he completed his medical education at The Medical Academy of Sofia, Bulgaria in 1983. His post-doctoral training included a general comprehensive internship in internal medicine at the St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto, Ontario which was followed by an internship at the Doctors Hospital in Toronto, both of which are University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine affiliated hospitals.Dr. Gagovski was named a Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP) for Canada Immigration in 1992, a position he holds to this day. In 1993 Dr. Gagovski became an associate of Dr. Jesse Stoff at Immune Therapies International. Within a few years, Dr. Gagovski developed a special interest in the comprehensive treatment of solid tumour cancers. This interest broadened into developing treatments that would integrate and support more commonly used traditional treatments.Over the years, Dr. Gagovski’s interests reached further into combining various treatment modalities for other chronic, degenerative processes and immune disorders.He has been an associate of the Immune Recovery Foundation, Atlanta, Georgia, since 2004, and is the director of its Toronto clinic. Dr. Gagovski is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Ontario Medical Association.

Leonard J. Direnfeld, MD, CCFP

Dr. Direnfeld graduated in 1980 from University of Toronto, Medicine. He has maintained a very active family practice in Scarborough, Ontario, with hospital appointments at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Centenary Hospital, and Scarborough General Hospital.For almost two decades he has incorporated integrative and functional medicine into his conventional practice, effectively combining two parallel fields of medicine into one, thus providing superior care for his patients. He possesses extensive knowledge and expertise in bio-identical hormone replacement, adrenal and thyroid disorders, chronic degenerative illness, and heavy metal and environmental toxicities and their associated health issues. He has, over the years, served on numerous hospital and other medical committees, and holds several professional affiliations. He is licenced with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and is a member of the Ontario Medical Association and College of Family Medicine of Canada.

John Gannage, MD, MCFP, DH

Dr. Gannage graduated from University of Toronto Medical School in 1990 and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He has also obtained two diplomas in Homeopathy. Dr. Gannage is the medical director of Markham Integrative Medicine, where he has been emphasizing prevention and treatment of chronic health issues. His approach effectively combines conventional and complementary medicine, including nutrition, detoxification, and reduction of oxidative stress, while addressing the underlying cause of disease using biomedical modalities. Dr. Gannage has received extensive training in several fields including Chelation Therapy, Oxidative Medicine, and Lipid Exchange Therapy. He is licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and holds memberships with the Canadian Complementary Medicine Association (CCMA), the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), the Canadian Society of Orthomolecular Medicine (CSOM), the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), and Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE). He regularly educates the community and other practitioners through public presentations, has given radio talks, and has written numerous articles for publication.

Dr. James Meschino, DC, MS, ND, ROHP, RAP
 
Originally a Doctor of Chiropractic, James also completed a Master’s degree in science with specialties in human nutrition and biology at the University of Bridgeport Conn. He is also an ND, a Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner and a Registered Acupuncture Practitioner (with a special interest in chronic pain management). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Anti-Aging Research and an associate professor at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, where he has taught courses in biochemistry, nutrition and natural medicine since 1984. James has coordinated and taught second and third year nutrition courses at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and provides continuing education courses on nutrition and natural medicine to medical doctors, pharmacists, chiropractors and other health care providers in the United States and Canada. As a faculty member of the American Council of Exercise (ACE), he has taught courses to fitness professionals on nutrition, athletic performance and anti-aging. As a guest lecturer for the Integrative Cancer Therapy Fellowship Program (a division of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine), James teaches medical doctors from around the world (including oncologists) the scientific evidence pertaining to the role of nutrition and supplementation in the adjunctive management of cancer. James has published four books on nutrition, supplementation, and wellness, and is the product formulator for Adeeva Nutritionals based in Canada. He is the Director of Nutritional Therapy at our centre.

 

Rita A. Mikkelsaar, RN
Rita graduated nursing in 1980, followed by a career at the Toronto General Hospital in general surgery/surgical oncology nursing, and on to general oncology. During this time she was also involved in data collection for University of Toronto researchers for scientific publication. In 1985 Rita assisted Dr. Rudy Falk in opening the first private active cancer treatment centre in Canada-the Falk Oncology Centre- in Toronto, Ontario. This centre attracted patients worldwide, providing conventional and alternative combination therapy, primarily for cancer. Over the years, more combination therapies were added for other chronic illnesses and disorders. In 1996, along with Dr. Falk, she assisted in opening a multi-disciplinary integrative medical centre in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with several physicians and other health care professional from Canada and the U.S. Following Dr. Falk’s death in 1998, Rita was adamant that Dr. Falk’s work continued on, and eventually in 2001, she founded another health clinic under the direction of Dr. Leonard Direnfeld, with locations in Barrie and Toronto. In 2009, joining also with Dr. Gagovski, fate dictated that United Medicine Group be born. 

 

Maria Gagovski, MD(Bul)
Maria Gagovski is a senior clinical research scientist with a special interest in the integrative and alternative as well as complementary treatment methods for cancer and other chronic health issues. She received her medical degree in 1983 from the Medical Academy of Sofia in Bulgaria, and her general medical license in 1984. In 1986 as well as in 1992 she passed the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination.

 
 
Amtul Q Farhat,  MBBS, FCPS(Pak), DCH(UK)
Amtul Farhat obtained her medical degree and Fellowship from Pakistan. She worked as a family physician and then pediatrician for several years. In 1982 she began working in Sheffield, England as a training officer with special focus on disease prevention and nutrition. In 1986, she joined Sheffield Children’s Hospital as a postgraduate Trainee resident. In 1987 she became a Diplomat of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, U.K. From 1988 to 2002, while an Assistant Professor at Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Pakistan, she did research on Hyperlipideamia in children from high risk families and  DOTS Theray. She was also the Master Trainer for the  Integrated Child Survival Programs of the World Health Organization for developing countries.  She is a research writer and an advocate of Integrative Medicine. She has worked as Editor-in-Chief for “Vanguard” and “Oasis”, the scientific and literary journals of her medical school.
